Sponge Diver's Travel

A small boat will take you to a place of diving interest. Over there you will watch a live demonstartion of the traditional method Kalymnians used to dive for sponges.

The instructor uses a traditional diving suit (skafandro) and explains the process needed to wear it and be able to breathe with it underwater.

you can then follow him underwater on a dive to the depths of Kalymnos past and tradition

Dimitris Nystazos

Dimitris Nystazos is a diving instructor from Kalymnos and the owner of Kalymnos Diving Club. Currently, there is no other diver using the traditional diving suite. He has a long experience in proffesional diving and immense passion for his job. He is a certified as an instructor, a lifeguard and has over the years taken part in various relative jobs from preparing new divers to surfacing sunk vessels
